Sounds pretty far out, doesn't it? The heart of your command structure functioning from inside a virtual office. It's now very possible and many corporate entities are doing it. In an age of seamless telecommunications, this and much more is ALL possible.
How does it work? Through a model Corporate America has been utilizing for some time, often termed the virtual office or telecommuting. Nightclubbiz.com has developed its own highly custom telecommunications management system, which is built on top of a highly advanced IP-PBX platform. Utilizing a hybrid of conventional analog, VOIP, and telephony based architecture, the result is a virtual office or command post where participants are not limited by geographical location, physical space, or time constraints.
Translate this into English please! Owners, managers, project leaders, investors, and Nightclubbiz.com exist within a virtual office or conference room, which is standing by 24 X 7. Meetings, operational issues, problem-solving sessions, strategy sessions, or emerging situations, which are an imminent threat to the business can be dealt with immediately. You do not need to hunt everyone done, arrange a time, and arrange a place of meeting. A conference with key individuals can be brought into session within minutes. All it takes is a simple phone call…
Isn't this overkill or overly high-tech for a nightclub operation? The precipitating factors, which ultimately result in empty nightclubs, theft, violence, and finally closures are for the most part, a direct result of:
So how is the virtual office going to prevent this? In short, by supplementing the deficiency largely responsible for plunging nightclub operations to their death. Nightclub environments are jam packed with experts, advisors, and emotionally driven thinkers, that while often mean well, are lacking in the department of clarity, order, rational, and foremost… Experience.
Intellectual resources are your friend… Behind every successful business operation is a select group of individuals that through the power of "collective thinking" and skilled leadership assume the most important role of all: The intellectual heavy lifting… They make the important decisions… They dictate policy… And they ultimately determine the fate of the venue. This is the real core component of a successful entertainment operation and unfortunately the component most often absent.
But nightclubs are physical constructs -not intellectual ones! Not so… Is music a physical construct? How about ego? How about social mindset, attitude, desire, humor, appeal, image, brand, identity, or the complex array of emotions encompassed in a social entertainment environment? These are not touchy, feely items… They are a complex assortment of intangible attributes. The only 'tangible' ones remaining are the chairs, tables, speakers, and lights. And… Contrary to what many believe… Are by far the most 'nonessential' components of all. Just look at the state of anarchy and disarray in many nightclub operations at present… The elementary knowledge of cash systems, inventory, payroll, and security detail will not help you here.
All sounds wonderful… But how exactly is Nightclubbiz.com going to achieve this? We work with operators and investment sources in seeking out and assembling a seasoned team of players. The team may consist of little more than two people or as many as ten. The methodology, which goes into building the team is not influenced by personal friends /friends of friends, or social popularity.
The qualifying criteria for inclusion into the team is not simply premised on operational know-how or resumes, but more importantly… The ability to function within a "collective thinking environment" This is in contrast to a large percentage of nightclubs, which function under a model premised on:
A skilled team of players coached and directed by competent leadership. Functioning under a collective thinking model, they produce solutions and approaches, which:
WOW! You mean a nightclub liberated from a 3-ring circus? Just because it's not being done, does not mean it cannot… There is nothing revolutionary about this approach. Most businesses outside of nightclubs have operated under this model since time began. The reasons why many nightclubs do not, is because of the misleading impression that a nightclub operation is not only easy money… But is also exempt from the basic concept of a business structure.
But what exactly does a management consultant do? It's not direct management, nor is it supposed to be. A nightclub management consultant is responsible for putting the necessary management in place and then directing them. The consultant may engage in some areas of the direct operation when necessary, however their primary function is to direct, oversee, and ensure mission objectives are carried out.
Virtual meetings and conferences? How is this possible? One-to-one calls are accomplished by simply calling an assigned number. If it's a meeting including 2 or more participants, the conference room is standing by and accessed through a separate number. Conference participants do not need to be at the physical location… All they need is access to is a phone.
But aren't management consultants supposed to be onsite? That's rather old school thinking… As one extreme example, complete medical procedures, including some fairly complex neural ones are now carried out through telecommunications based systems. Key to telecommuting is the infusion and exchange of intellectual resources amongst skilled participants. As this relates to management consulting services, 95% of them are intellectually based, so the absence of a physical human onsite is irrelevant. Any interaction at the physical level is carried out by onsite management 'under the direction' of the management consultant. I bet this type of arrangement would cost a fortune!! Nope… An onsite management consultant can run from $2,500, upwards to $4,500 a week with all travel, lodging, and dining expenses combined. Moreover, your nightclub may only be in operation a few hours a night, three nights a week. That does not matter… You pay an onsite consultant for being there around the clock and you continue to house and feed him/her. In all likelihood, your budget will not allow for an expenditure like this for much beyond a week. Nightclubs in the startup stages require around the clock attention and generally extending into several months, not 7-days. The only problem is, most operations could not afford an onsite management consultant much beyond a week, if at all.
If you factor in the costs of the many mistakes first time operators make, in addition to losses from poorly managed administrative systems, over priced DJ's, allowing promoters to take over the club, and the host antics, which land nightclubs into serious trouble, the cost of our management consultant services would likely be a tiny fraction of that.
It's for both, but if given a choice, new startups would be preferred, as we're very good at assembling management teams and a solid compliment of staff. In 'current' operations, existing management would need to favor the idea of working /taking instruction from a management consultant. It largely depends on how much control owners have over their existing managers, which in nightclubs can be iffy sometimes. Alternatively, in an operation where owners have 100% positive control, all can be perfectly fine.
We take this very seriously and largely because the client is placing a sizable amount of responsibility into our hands, not to mention the fate of their investment. As a result, we do not oversubscribe ourselves. These types of arrangements generally entail long hours, so our first concern is always the 'quality of service' we provide to clients --not breaking new records.
Additionally, Nightclubbiz.com does not accept all requests for management consultant assistance. For us, this is not a job -it's a passion and in these sorts of arrangements, there needs to be a suitable match between client and consultant, or common ground so to speak. Also, we don't accept projects we do not believe to be a good fit with our expertise and general approach to social entertainment.
But you can't even see us... Our staff... Or our operation? That's not entirely true. Most entertainment venues are now monitoring every square foot of their operation through video surveillance systems and if not, they most certainly should be. Virtually all video surveillance systems now offer "remote viewing", which allows designated users to login to the system "remotely" and view all activity taking place in the venue, in real time.
In actually, using the video surveillance system, you can see far more of the venue and what is going on at any given moment compared to the naked eye, which can only see the present location. These systems also record ALL activity from all cameras, which is stored for later viewing. So in essence, Nightclubbiz.com actually has a better view of what's going on 'remotely' than many do in person.
On a side note… Nightclubbiz.com highly recommends speaking to us "before" purchasing a nightclub video surveillance system. We have a substantial background with this technology and pieced together /assembled properly, you "can" obtain a crystal clear picture, even in erratic lighting or complete darkness conditions. We provide this service 'only' to clients in a management consultant arrangement with us.
Are there long-term contracts? No… Nightclubbiz.com does not believe in creating contracts, which are clearly intended to lock someone into a service they may no longer want or require. The agreement is on a month-to-month basis and you are welcome to terminate it at anytime. By the same token, we do not continue service at an operation where we do not believe it's in the best interest of us, or the client. This is yet another commonsense agreement and by and large… How Nightclubbiz.com prefers to operate.
Yes of course. In some cases, we may even do so periodically. While it's not necessary in most cases, it is still possible. In some cases, we head out for the weekend to the clients location. Sometimes spontaneously… Sometimes planned.
We promised all of you we would never say "call for pricing" and up to this point, we've kept that promise. The problem is, nightclub management consultant arrangements are not as simple as bundling them up into a one fits all package. There are numerous variables, such as the scope of service required, as well as the burden of responsibility. Until we know what it is we're getting into, announcing a price is almost impossible at this point.
